Psychic or “Psycho”? Understanding the Language of Spirit

Ever had a moment where you thought of someone right before they texted? Or felt an unexplainable chill when you walked into a room? Maybe you’ve woken from a dream so vivid it felt like a visit from someone you love who’s passed.
If you’ve had moments like these, you might have wondered, “Am I psychic… or am I just imagining things?”
You’re not crazy, and you’re definitely not alone. Experiences like these are far more common than most people realize.
Why Spiritual Experiences Can Feel “Out There”
Most of life is invisible. Gravity, sound waves, love, intuition - all real, all unseen. Spiritual experiences belong to this same world of subtle energy.
When we feel a gut pull to take a different route home (which you should always trust), wake up knowing something shifted in a loved one’s life, or feel a sudden wave of emotion that isn’t ours - these are the whispers of the unseen world brushing up against our awareness.
This is the quiet conversation between our soul and the universe.
The Language of the Clairs
Psychic and mediumship abilities aren’t magic tricks. They’re simply ways of listening to life more closely. They speak through what are often called the Clairs:
Clairvoyance (Clear Seeing): The mind’s eye that flashes with images, symbols, or visions.
Clairaudience (Clear Hearing): The voice of intuition in words, tones, or even meaningful song lyrics.
Clairsentience (Clear Feeling): Emotion and energy felt directly in the body; goosebumps, pressure, or subtle waves.
Claircognizance (Clear Knowing): A sudden knowing that arrives whole, without logic or explanation.
Each of these is a way our consciousness tunes into something bigger than ourselves and most people have experienced at least one of these without realizing it.
For years, I’ve carried this quiet but persistent pull to channel downloads and healing messages through writing. Deep down, I’ve always known I was meant to write a book, or maybe many, using words as a way to express and transmit the energy that moves through me.
A few months ago, I asked Spirit for a clear sign of when it was time to finally put pen to paper. I didn’t want to second-guess it. I wanted an undeniable moment that said, Now is the time.
Last week, I had the most ordinary dentist appointment - or so I thought. They called to ask if I could come in a few hours earlier. It felt right, so I went. I got my teeth cleaned and went about the appointment as usual. But as I was checking out, something extraordinary happened.
A woman walked up to the counter holding a beautiful leather journal. Across the top, in large, flowing velvet letters, was my name - “Shannon.” Seven delicate butterflies were embossed across the cover. I just stood there, stunned and speechless. It felt like the universe had just reached out and tapped me on the shoulder, saying, “This is for you. Pay attention.”
There are so many moments in life we can write off as coincidence. But this wasn’t one of them. This was divine orchestration - down to the timing of that rescheduled appointment. If I hadn’t agreed to come in earlier, I would have completely missed it.
Why We Dismiss Our Own Experiences
We live in a culture that mistrusts the invisible. We’re taught to rely on what we can measure, prove, and repeat. But the spiritual world doesn’t operate on human schedules. It speaks in synchronicities, subtle nudges, and felt truths.
So, when we sense it, we often dismiss it:
“I’m just overthinking.”
“It’s probably a coincidence.”
“People will think I’m crazy.”
But what if the opposite is true? What if doubting our own soul is the real madness?
Mediumship: Love That Doesn’t End
Mediumship, the ability to communicate with those who have crossed over, is often just an extension of these intuitive senses.
When we feel a loved one in the room, smell their perfume, hear a song that feels like them speaking, or dream of them in a way that feels more real than real - this is love continuing in another form.
Mediumship isn’t about death. It’s about connection. It’s about the truth that love doesn’t end, and consciousness doesn’t vanish, even when the body does.
I was at my massage job, sitting between clients, slumped in the chair and lost in heavy grief. My father had passed just a few weeks before, and the weight of that sorrow felt like it was pressing down on me.
That’s when my coworker, Siri, accidentally dropped some hot stones behind the washer. She crouched down to grab them, and when she came back up, she was holding something small between her fingers - a BlueChip CT 55 guitar pick. My eyes went wide. I looked at her and said softly, “My dad played the guitar.”
She froze for a moment, then in her gentle Thai accent said, “Oh, Shannon… coincidence, eh?” and held out her arms, covered in goosebumps.
What was a guitar pick doing in a massage joint? In that exact moment? It was impeccable timing - another one of those divinely orchestrated winks from the universe, letting me know that love never truly leaves.

Claiming Your Spiritual Truth
If you’ve ever had a spiritual experience and wondered if you were crazy, consider this your validation:
You are not broken. You are not “too sensitive.”You are not imagining it.
You are simply listening to a language most people have forgotten how to hear.
The path of intuition and mediumship isn’t about becoming “special.” It’s about remembering that we are all deeply connected. We are threads in an invisible web, always touching, always speaking, always listening.
The Invitation
The next time you feel a nudge, a chill, a wave of knowing - pause. Honor it. Write it down. Whisper back: I hear you. When we get silent and still enough we can hear spirit through our own senses.
The more we honor these moments, the more life opens. The question isn’t really “psychic or psycho?” It’s whether we’re willing to trust the parts of ourselves that can feel what others can’t yet see and know there is something divine taking place.
